Start by replacing the air filter and clearing leaves and debris from around the outdoor condenser — it needs about two feet of clear space on all sides to breathe.
Gently rinse the outdoor coil with a garden hose (power off), and pour a cup of vinegar down the condensate drain line to prevent clogs and water damage.
The rest — checking refrigerant charge, electrical connections, and capacitor health — is what our maintenance-plan visit covers. Booking a tune-up before summer is the cheapest insurance against a mid-July breakdown.
